General Information
The graphing calculators have an operating system (OS) similar to a windows or a mac computer. From time to time, it will need to be updated in order to run certain programs that can be downloaded from the TI graphing calculator sites. The current OS for the TI-83s which is what the school provides is 1.19. To check what OS your graphing calculator is currently using, go to

If you see the following
with 1.19 under TI - 83 Plus Silver Edition (This maybe different) then you have the most up to date OS. The Prod #, ID and Cert. Revision # will be different.
To download the current OS, you will first need to first download TI Connect from the Texas Instruments website.
Go to TI Connect & App Instructions for Windows and follow the instructions (If using a laptop from the high school, you will need to get Cindy's help in order to download any programs, etc.) TI Connect is also what you will need in order to communicate with your calculator via your computer.
Once you have downloaded and installed TI Connect onto your computer, you will now want to download the current version of the OS for your specific calculator. Go to Latest Software on the TI calculator website. Download whichever OS you will need for either the 83 or 84 that you will need. Save the program on your desktop.
Once it is on your desktop, connect your calculator to the computer using the grey usb cord that also connects to your calculator. It should have come with the calculators. This is the next step: Drag the OS to the TI Connect as though you are saving a document in another folder. Once you have dragged the program to TI Connect, you will find that your calculator will be receiving the program. You will also do this for any program you would like to put on your calculator.
